Pierre Bourne Mass Appeal Interview

"Pi’erre Bourne’s hustle is what led to his success today. Before landing six tracks on Playboi Carti’s self-titled mixtape, Pi’erre was already an engineer for Epic Records and working as a producer on the Atlanta scene. He attributes his choice of residence to not wanting to rely on family."

Bay Faction Concert Review

By: Andrew Moltz

After a short 45 minute car ride from their home in Jamaica Plain to Haverhill, Massachusetts, Bay Faction arrived at the venue, Anchors Up some what out of place amongst a sea of tweens sporting Wonder Years t-shirts and Vans. Their situation was less than ideal and to make matters worse, they were the opening band.

As nerves set in, singer and frontman, James McDermott introduced the band as Bay Faction and they began playing their set. Initially the crowd was hesitant and reserved, but by the end of their second song "Stagnant", the crowd warmed up to the indie rockers music.

By the time they played their last song and new single "Jasper", they had formed a solid crowd in front of the stage. After their set was over, several kids went up to the band and told them how much they liked their music. Despite Bay Faction's experimental indie sound amongst the other Pop Punk bands at the show, their polished sound and tight set shined through, making them the best band of the night.

Look for Bay Faction's upcoming LP "Jasper" in the coming weeks.

Also make sure to check out their single "Jasper" on bandcamp now! http://bayfaction.bandcamp.com

The WAC Gallery Interviews: OG Che$$

Tell us who you are exactly and what you do?

Im OG CHE$$, and ima artist/producer.

When did you get into music and what inspired you?

I used to be into basketball before doing this music thing, but I always loved music and the feeling it gave me. But me and my homie started a group just for fun in high school and we would make songs strictly for the ladies, but i was approached by a classmate of mines at the time by the name of Travis Scott and he would tell me "yoo I gotta studio at the crib yall should come through and record" i would be like fa shoo just let me know whats good. We used to go to his studio after school everyday, it became like a sanctuary for us, or a place to just let loose and act wild, we called it "The Pit". To make a long story short as time went I grew to love making music and just the feeling of doing it, it got a hold of me it was something I knew I wouldn't be able to let go and I built a  passion for it more and more as these days go by.

Where are you originally from?

Im from Mo City small town outside of Houston just making chessmoves.

How would you categorize your music?

I would categorize my music as something you will either love or absolutely hate, theres no in between lol.

Favorite food, drink, and snack?

My favorite food would have to be a medium well steak if you can prepare a good steak we can def be friends. snack wise hmmm i cant really say...

What's the craziest thing a fan has ever done?

Theres been lots of crazy things but the craziest that just sticks out would be this dude who got hella slonky at this party and rapped every Og Che$$ song that played to me lol i will never forget that ish.

What would you change about the music industry?

I would change the gatekeepers, and how they run the industry. I want it to get back to the older days when people were recognized more for the culture, image, and buzz they create from their hometown or wherever.

If you could work with any other musician in the world, dead or alive, who would it be?

I would work with Ma$e because he's just too OG , like his style demeanor and what he did in the industry is just legendary to me.

How have you evolved as a musician over the past couple of years?

You can ask any person who has been on this journey with me, and they will tell you they way I have evolved musically is true progression at its finest. I can even see it and hear it myself, I can say putting more time into the studio and thought into my work has made me a better artist overall, and its only going to continue to progress to a whole new level.

What can't you live without in your day to day life?

I cant live without my team and my fam they are the most supportive hard working people i know. They keep me inspired and knowledgeable throughout my career, and we're going to do some great things in the near future.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?

The best advice i've been given would have to be "stay humble" because being humble will take you a long way and keep your mind open to many things you would be blind to.

Anything else you would like to say?

Stay slonky, live free, and look out for that new OG Che$$ 2014 Takeover! OGW4NG!

Word bro, its been a pleasure.

Che$$ is releasing a new track with Rockie Fresh tomorrow, check it out tomorrow on Waffles After Class.

Produced by Fameless, this record is not a gimmick, but true feelings, and real songwriting. If I had to put a label on Love Mansuy, it’d be the pop world’s up and coming anti-hero, and I mean that with all respect.
